Are There Risk factors in Laser Eye Treatment?

As with any form of surgery, there are risks involved, however there is a low percentage of complications in LASIK procedures. The most common is having an infection after the surgery that will not create a significant effect on the actual eyesight. From a LASIK clinical research by studying 60,000 patients, only two cases were reported to have infectious condition which both can be treated by antibiotics with good results.

The best way to prevent eye infection is to avoid eye contact with water for about two weeks after having lasik surgery. Some side effects such as haziness of vision (with borders, shadows, glare, light scattering and diplopia) is lower than 0.5 % of the reported problems.
